From Overworked and Anxious to Calm: How I Stopped Overthinking
I used to overthink everything, constantly stressed about the future. It got worse after a betrayal at work, where I was overworked and drained. My breaking point led to severe health issues. But I found clarity by focusing on what I can control and journaling daily. Here's how I made the change.
I used to overthink every decision and constantly stress about the future.
I had been doing this for years.
Rock bottom for me was when I began experiencing excruciating pain in my body, which doctors diagnosed as severe inflammation due to stress. I was anxious, drained, and stuck in a cycle of doubt. It was terrible.
How did I break this bad habit?
Understanding what's in my control
I learned to focus on the present by reflecting on what I can and cannot control, and trust my decisions.
The change didn’t happen overnight, but I found a turning point when I began journaling daily. Putting my thoughts on paper helped me gain clarity, process my worries, and focus on what truly mattered.
Here’s what I noticed over time:
- I felt calmer and less anxious.
- I could make decisions with more confidence.
- I gained clarity on what truly mattered.
- I felt more in control of my life.
So, if you find yourself overthinking and stressing about the future, I encourage you to learn from my mistakes.
And focus on what you can control, let go of what you can’t, and trust yourself to make the right decisions.
